I have been to the mountain, I have been to the sea I have crossed the great desert to swim in slow Idalian streams and I bow to the creator or whatever that may mean I have known the poor the true salts of the earth I have met bodies who have only been taught how to hurt and I am so sorry for what parts I have made worst I will be haunted until my bones are pushing dirt we are born with love abundant a never ending well then we learn to hold it closely and hoard it for ourselves as if that will bring us riches, gathering dust up on the shelf I have seen such beauty, such wonder, such grace such poignant graffiti scrawled on heavens gate no matter your religion we share this birthplace as all convictions share a common fate so raise your flag proudly whatever it represents kneel in real humility to whatever God you're pledged take in the beauty, because it's brief what we have left I have sang these songs to the great unending void I have stood on the edge of all we have destroyed and I am so angry for what terror we've given voice there is so much more beauty so much more to rejoice...

take my only words for what little that they are worth leave me as you found me, new unto the world take my only hopes, build for them a pyre may their ashes reach the heavens and be reborn in fire what little that we know, what little we can see mystery surround us in the darkness of our beliefs and you're a stubborn child rearing to be free from the bridle and the bit one day we'll be released take off what you're made of what is sacred will not be wasted in the age of unknowns the age of these bones I don't know nobody that can go it alone what little have I done, what little I have changed who among us has confessed any more then they've complained we all are carrying weight, bowed but we don't break when darkness falls upon us the lonesome lay awake the simulation ends but the data is retained the parallels in which we live distant and constrained you were breaking through, I saw a light on in your room everyone get down now, don't nobody move take off what you're made of what is sacred will not be wasted in the age of unknowns the age of these bones I don't know nobody that can go it alone

midnight calls, a siren in an empty room, this is home, not wherever you are going to. weary bones, lift bricks and trowel mortar, heavy hearts, build walls along their borders. scorpions and songbirds both share traits with the hearts of men fake violets and begonias, on your winter porch snow was stark against the astro turf. I aged decades standing in, your gentle gaze chasing after dreams is why they always run away. waiting for tomorrow, how will we pay back all the time that we borrowed? summer came to burn our lips, and skin our knees after all light is just how a star bleeds. you were looking up, as i was falling out through the branches of a tree we both were cutting down. scorpions and songbirds both share traits with the hearts of men

I've got a girl, that writes sometimes from three states away although I miss her constantly, I know it's better this way some things can't be changed Whenever I speak out of turn, she'll put me in check some things a heart has to learn to avoid these wrecks and sail another day You're no ordinary cautionary tale A fire that never dims, a light that never pales and so it goes... I know she won't be tamed, she won't be no ones wretch she'll get there all by herself ahead of the rest she won't carry your shame And all these things, in spite of me or because she's all that I've left for reasons I can not explain I still love her to death never seems to fade You're no ordinary cautionary tale A fire that never dims, a light that never pales and so it goes... I've got a girl, that writes sometimes from three states away although I miss her constantly, I know it's better this way

Your child's eyes, greets you in the night the forest is a maze, every shadow a tiger sweaty palms, clutch you at the hem midnight in fog, a lantern peering in in a voice thunderous and sharp in a song that finds you in the dark in a kiss you swore not to keep came a vision, out there in the deep Your quiet prayers, bent down at the knees these whispered words, to the heavens we all plead please comfort me, please take me in, and comfort me come to me as a friend in a voice thunderous and sharp in a song that finds you in the dark in a kiss you swore not to keep there came a vision, out there in the deep I had dreamed, the open plains where I was born had turned into a sprawling sea, and before I could wake my resting bones, I swallowed hard and my body sank far, far below in a voice thunderous and sharp in a song that finds you in the dark in a kiss you swore not to keep came a vision, out there in the deep

Dead men don't talk I've been practicing my walk Studying the clock for hours listening for the knock the answer never came, are the questions still the same? Living under a rock befriended by a pigeon-hawk Testing out new locks, saving up for penny stocks the answers never came, but the questions still remain. Yellow Nissan Sentra circa 1997 So you know it's not a rental, besides this side of heaven it's hard to see the forest for the trees and the shaking of their leaves Parked just up the street been watching me all week Worrying the blinds, I sneak, shuffling both my feet it's not paranoia if they're actually coming for ya... Gone are the embers our lust for life (lustful life) Outside city limits under limitless night Button up your lip you'd better not let nothing slip You were keeping rhythm, crack the bass drum with a whip does anybody know where any of this might go? You were dicing onions when you cut your fingertip Swaying at the hips, with every literary quip does anybody know where any of this goes? I think I might've been implanted with a micro-chip Hold a flashlight to my skin, to find out where it is it's hard to be for certain with these certain unknowns Obsessing with the rearview for this entire trip None of this is in the script, you gotta get a grip it's not a delusion, if I prove their collusion Gone are the embers our lustful life (lust for life) Outside city limits under limitless night Spared from the shadow spared from the fire Limited conviction in the limitless night (break) Gone are the embers our lust for life (lustful life) Outside city limits under limitless night Dead men don't talk I've been practicing my walk Studying the clock for hours, listening for their knock the answer never came, the question remains the same

I don't always understand your reasoning one way in the morning another in the evening I can't ever tell which way you're leaning always catch you coming in, you always catch me leaving (stand and deliver you know your love's a giver a saint and a sinner an absolute beginner)
8.
if you know my name then you know my ways it shouldn't matter how far I've strayed don't say things that you can't unsay why make rules that we can't obey if the night seems to come too soon if the drums fill up the room tied your hopes to a red balloon then they float away now you watch the sky for birds of prey they dive for their dinner then soar away clouds these parts hang low for days the streets and buildings are all steel grey if your likeness is never pressed in bronze if your name is never sang in songs you imagine that it won't be long until memory fades now you see there's but one clear way if all is forgotten and all decays don't think of me after I've gone away remember the heat of the fire I blazed if a moment is all we'll ever know then what we lost we can just let go turn instead to the warming glow another breaking day
